The Fourth of July landed on a Tuesday this year with the weekend starting July 2nd and going through to the 4rth for a grand fireworks display and long four day weekend.
In Mission Beach and Pacific Beach San Diego crowds flocked to the beaches to beat record heat in the inland areas which hit and went over 100 degrees.
Local news media reported that over 1.5 million people were expected to hit San Diego's beaches for this four day weekend.
